How the VAT threshold works

You must normally register when taxable turnover for the rolling 12 months goes over £90,000, or when you expect taxable turnover to go over £90,000 in the next 30 days alone. This is not a calendar-year test. Exempt and out-of-scope sales are generally excluded; zero-rated sales are included.
