Tax year: 2026/27 | Last reviewed: 2 October 2026
Companies House increased most of its fees on 1 February 2026, the second rise in under two years after the large increase in May 2024. The extra income funds its new powers under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, including identity verification and stronger checks on the register.

The confirmation statement
Every company must file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, confirming its registered office, officers, people with significant control, shareholders and SIC codes. Since March 2024 it also has to include a registered email address and confirm the company’s future activities are lawful. The fee is payable once per year, however many statements you file.
Missing it is a criminal offence for the company and directors, and Companies House can strike the company off the register.
Identity verification
From 18 November 2025, all new and existing directors and people with significant control must verify their identity with Companies House, either directly through GOV.UK One Login or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider such as Digivolve. Existing directors confirm their verification with their next confirmation statement. Read our director identity verification guide or use our ID verification service.
